2023 Tax Deadlines
One of the most frequently asked questions we receive during tax season is around due dates. Below is a breakdown of the Federal tax deadlines for Business and Individuals. Be aware that some states and local jurisdictions have different deadlines so be sure to confirm those with your tax preparer.
2023 Federal Tax Deadlines for Businesses
March 15, 2023 - Deadline for S-Corp and Partnership (and LLCs taxed as a partnership) tax returns. If you are not going to complete your filing by this date a 6-month extension is available via Form 7004.
April 18, 2023 - Deadline for C Corp returns. 6-month extension via Form 7004 is available if needed. Warning that the extension does not extend the payment due date and failure to pay the taxes you owe may result in interest and penalty.
April 18, 2023 Deadline for 2023 Q1 estimated payments
June 15, 2023 - Deadline for 2023 Q2 estimated payments
September 15, 2023 - Deadline for extended 2022 S-Corp and partnership tax returns
September 15, 2023 - Deadline for 2023 Q3 estimated payments
October 16, 2023 - Deadline for extended 2022 C Corpl tax returns
January 14, 2024 - Deadline for 2023 Q4 estimated payments
2023 Federal Tax Deadlines for Individuals
April 18, 2023 - Deadline for 2022 Individual Tax Returns. These include sole proprietors, freelancers, LLCs and independent contractors who report their business on a Schedule C. If you are not filing by this date you can file an extension via Form 4868 by April 18th which will grant you a 6 month filing extension. Warning: this does not extend the payment due date and failure to pay the taxes you owe may result in interest and penalty.
April 18, 2023 - Deadline for 2023 Q1 estimated payments
June 15, 2023 - Deadline for 2023 Q2 estimated payments
September 15, 2023 - Deadline for 2023 Q3 estimated payments
October 16, 2023 - Deadline for 2022 individual tax returns that were extended
January 14, 2024 - Deadline for 2023 Q4 estimated payments
